Team England have apologised re their "resting" policy and admit they have got it wrong - it must be a first!!

Of course this isn't a public apology from the ECB - that would be asking too much - it is Moxon relaying their private apology.

And it's not really an apology for the policy they should be apologising for either.

It makes sense to rest Willey Wood Plunkett ahead of Friday's ODI but it might also apply to Rashid, Root and Bairstow who not bowling 10 overs of pace, may still have a long innings and 50 overs in the field.

I find it bizarre that England have only just realised the timings and logistics and if they had made our lads unavailable weeks ago none of us would have batted an eyelid.

When they apologise for how they treat Bairstows availability I may start to believe some sanity and fairness has been restored

Whilst I can understand England resting Plunkett it was obvious to anyone who watched the Lancs match that Willey is in need of 'overs under his belt' before he's be back to his best. If England do pick Willey against Ireland I'd expect him to disappoint.
