The continuing changeable weather conditions, including bright sunlight, thunderstorms and heavy rain has again played havoc with the fishing conditions. The reservoir is now nearly full and the water temperature has remained steady at 16 degrees C. The aerators are still not operational and the fish have continued to spread out across the reservoir rather than be focussed around the boils. This has meant that the fishing has been dependent upon the actual weather conditions and as these have fluctuated daily so has the fishing. There continues to be fish spasmodically feeding on the frywithin the pontoon basin and off the dam and there are plenty of fish to been found around the sailing club boat, numbers 1 and 2 buoys and the main basin. With the exception of the pontoon, the bank anglers have still found the fishing very challenging but the signs of the fish starting to feed on the fry bodes well for the future. Dry fly fishing is at the moment providing the best overall catch returns.

On Monday, Mr Scragg caught 9 fish on a Mayfly but Tuesday saw harder conditions with only 2 fish landed. Dull overcast conditions and a light wind on Wednesday coincided with a match organised by the Cheshire Police and the favourable conditions brought the fish on the feed. Their 10 anglers boated 40 fish with top rod being Chris Webster with 9, with Ian Wood taking the best fish of 2.5 pounds. Other anglers on the water on Wednesday benefited from the improved conditions with season ticket holders John Grainey and Bruce Burton catching 13 to the boat using floating lines with either bibios or black and green fritz. The Wednesday rod average of 3 proved to be the best of the week as unfavourable weather returned adversely affecting catches with the daily rod averagefalling to between 1 and 1.5 for the remainder of the week. Some anglers managed better than average returns including Mr Beard with 3 on Thursday, Paul Walker taking 3 on bobbies on Friday and Gary Owen who visited us on Sunday afternoon and caught 5 fish on a white bodied cormorant fished on a DI5 line
