Foremark weekly report week ending 1st October 2017

The water level has remained constant this week and has seen the water temperature holding at about 14c.

Foremark water levels remain high the grass along the bank from flamingo to the bottom of sunblest has been cut with the fishery staff out this week removing any problem bushes or saplings.

As yet, and its due to the rapid rise in the water levels the fry are yet to move in on the margins in any great numbers, therefore the best of the sport continues to be from the boats.

For most of the week we enjoyed light winds if a little wet at times, it wasn’t until the weekend that the speed picked up.

The aerators are on but with the water temperature this week hovering between 15c – 14c the fish are starting to move out into open water.

During the late afternoon we are seeing fish feeding off the surface from bramble bay down to gorse bay with daddies, hoppers, small cdc patterns taking these fish. Surprisingly a static fry pattern over open water has also work with Owen Rivet taking 3 on this method for his mornings visit.

R Taft & Keith Coley fished carvers arms with fry patterns sub surface & boated 19 trout. The cascade you would expect to hold some fish with all the pumped water coming in, however the outer edges of the cascade are producing but generally the middle of the carvers arm down to gorse bay is the better bet.

Successful anglers this week Scott Wilson catching 9, J Fogg catching 7, Paul Walker catching 6 with John Scragg catching 8 for his afternoon visit. Kevin Hart went out for 1 hr following his shift at the lodge boating 4 trout on a floating line & damsel.

On Sunday 13 members of the Alex Booth club fished a competition with the winner V Byrne catching 5 trout & P Fleming taking the best fish a rainbow of 2lb10oz

Fly fishing for the Pike this week has been slow, a few follows but difficult to get them to commit
