Charles chose to stay in this time. He had had a long day with some newbie slayerettes and was just tired. Had he realized how much of a strain it would be to put on this act of being “normal” he wouldn’t have bothered with these people in the first place. He kept telling himself that these people for some reason seemed to be in the center of whatever supernatural mess that was happening. His place was here in Sunnydale for the moment. Charles sat in the darkness of his motel room on the bed just relaxing in just a pair of blue jeans and his boots. He couldn’t get over how hopeless some of these girls were that he was training.

If something major went down, even with his attempts at training them, half of them would be dead during the first strike. It was simple as that. Charles didn’t like the idea of relished in it by any means, but he saw it as fact. Some of these girls would take years to get battle ready, while others simply just didn’t have the spirit to fight. He was amazed that such a gift could possibly be squandered on such people. Leaning forward on the bed he grabbed his .357 off the nightstand and popped the clip out. Checking it over to make sure it had a full magazine he slipped it back into the weapon.

Just as he did a slight noise came from outside. He froze immediately and listened and watched the curtain covered window. Even with a curtain over the window there was a light shining into the window from outside. Charles gripped the handle of his gun tightly and slowly moved to his feet as he heard yet another noise from outside. There was someone or something there, but they wouldn’t like what they’d find if they chose to intrude on his dwelling. Just then he say what appeared to be the silhouette of a woman cross in front of his motel room window.
”So much for a quiet night…” he whispered as he moved off into the shadows of the room just beyond the bathroom door.

Just as he got there he heard the door knob being broken. As soon as that noise occurred he pulled the hammer back on his gun. Charles knew full well that a bullet might not put whatever it was down, but he’d learned along his way that just about anything drops down immobilized for a moment after taking a few rounds directly to the face. It’s hard to rip a man apart when you’re face is shattered by flying pieces of metal fired from a hand cannon. He watched as the door opened whoever or whatever it was moved into the room. The door hadn’t been shut so the light from outside shined brightly into the dingy motel room.

Charles wasn’t moving yet. A smart man always observed before jumping head long into a fray. He raised an eyebrow as he noticed that it was a woman. ”Not bad” he thought to himself as he got a full view of her body, but he wasn’t going to let that distract him. He still had no way of knowing if she was indeed human, nor even a “she” for that matter. Then he watched her light something and caught a whiff of it. This was either a human girl, or a demon with an affinity with getting high. Charles waited a moment before slowly moving from the shadows with his gun raised, aimed directly at her head.

He waited to speak until he was in open view.
”Not a smart move coming into someone’s place unannounced. Kinda rude really. You’ve got about ten seconds to explain why you’re here before I plaster your innards all over the wall behind you.” he stated sternly. Charles didn’t want an altercation tonight. He just wanted to be left alone. That’s what he always truly wanted, but this life always seemed to drag him back one way or another. Then again, he also knew full well his only true way out of all of this would be when he finally got cut down by some big nasty HST, but tonight sure as hell wasn’t going to be that night.

The gun launched from his hand and across the room. He glared at the woman. Most people would have been surprised by the display of telekinesis, but Charles had been around the block for a bit. There wasn’t much that truly surprised him anymore. He nearly went right for the large survival knife tucked into the back of his jeans, but chose otherwise. She didn’t seem to be looking to advance any sort of attack. This puzzled him. She then chose to begin talking, which he listened to.

Upon her beginning to think she was taking possession of his room he began to take exception.
”Just a minute there toots. This is in fact my room, whether you like it or not. So why don’t you just go ahead and piss off? It’s been a somewhat quiet night so far and I’d like to try and keep it that way.” Her whole attitude and demeanor had pissed him off by this point. Charles was fighting every urge he had to just take her out right here. But he was reformed. That wasn’t him anymore…or so he kept telling himself that.

He was passed his anger issues. He actually had a purpose again and he needed to keep his focus.
”And from the looks at it there’s a tad more to you than just some little girl. So you can get off that kick.” he said with a bit of a sneer as he eyed her as he moved over to the closet and pulled out his duffle bag. Unzipping it he reached in pulling out a black t-shirt. Never once did Charles take his eyes off the girl. After tossing the bag back into the closet he slipped the shirt on he moved over and leaned back against the dresser as he eyed her.

”As you can probably guess I’m not leaving MY room.” he stated rather forcefully. Charles then moved forward slowly, crouched and reached underneath the bed and retrieved his gun. Standing back up he watched her for a moment. The lighting in the room wasn’t the greatest, but she looked familiar. She couldn’t be one of those damn slayer wannabes he’d been dealing with. He’d remember her. ”Do you know the slayer?” he asked as he crossed his arms over his chest, still gripping the gun. If she was in this town she was either her Ms. Summers or against her. This question would easily reveal which it was. Things wanting her dead didn’t hide it very well. Not that he honestly thought this girl could take a slayer, nor him if it really came down to it.
