It had been a long plane ride back from Japan, and Vi had had more than a few drinks, it wasn't all that often she allowed herself the chance to party. She'd been in Tokyo for the past four months, and Beijing before that for two, helping to get slayer headquarters set up over there.
She gulps down the last few inches of the scotch she'd bought with her fake id and stood up as the plane's captain announced that the passengers could disembark and thanked them for flying Oceanic Airlines. She grabbed her carry-on bag from the overhead and falls in line with the other first class passengers.
Making her way down the passageway to the terminal she steps out and her eyes quickly scan the expanse of the 'receiving' area, hoping that Willow hadn't forgotten that today was the day Vi was returning to Sunnydale. The redhead, not seeing her friend among the crowds, moves out of the way so more people could get out of the unloading corridor.
She makes her way over to one of the rows of seats, and drops down on to the hard plastic chair with a slight grunt due to her low levels of drunkeness from her return flight. She was never comfortable around this many people, drunk or sober, and hopes that the witch shows up soon so she could get out of here.
About ten minutes passed before Vi caught sight of her friend, fellow redhead and Sunnydale survivor Willow Rosenberg making her way towards where she was sitting on the bench seat. As the witch pushed through the crowded terminal, Vi grabbed up her small carry-on bag and stood, before starting toward the wiccan with intent to meet her halfway.
'Hey Vi, welcome back.' She hears the witch greet with a wave, and just happy to see a familiar face after nearly sixteen hours on the plane, Vi barely hesitates as she drops her bag to the floor at her side and move up close to Willow and wraps the few-years-older woman in a tight hug. Vi is careful not to put too much strength behind her embrace, not wanting to hurt her friend, and only holds on for a couple seconds before releasing the other redhead.
"Good to see you too Willow." The now-eighteen year old greets back with a wide smile, having missed the witch and the others that had gathered back in Sunnydale since it's mysterious return, while Vi was stuck in Japan with a couple of the slayers found following the final confrontation with the First Evil almost a year prior, helping to set up a small base of operations for the new council there.
Vi gives an eager nod as Willow suggested they get on the road, both of them knowing full well that it would take a few hours for the drive out to Sunnydale. At least for Vi, it would be less stressful for this trip as there was no one actively looking to kill her this time around.
"Yeah, sounds good." She agrees with a smile. "I'm having the rest of my stuff mailed back so we won't have to wait at baggage claim." She adds as she steps back and crouches down for a moment to grab her carry-on bag back up.
"Lead on MacDuff." She quotes with a goofy grin, immensely happy for more reasons than one to be back stateside.
