So...coming on Sunday, is there any point in me buying walking boots? I have so far:

Wellies
Leggings x2prs
Waterproof trews to go over leggins (and smalls to go under them!)
Walking socks, long ones
Lightweight, wind/waterproof pac-a-mac
Heavier weight, longer waterproof coat
Cargo pants
Various t-shirt, zip hoodie, fleece layers.
Gardening gloves (thanks MooseandHobbes!)
Sun cream left over from last year Greek hols (hollow laugh)
Ablutions and aftercare skin stuff.

Need to get washing up gloves, anything else I lack, given current climate?

Definitely bring a good moisturizer. The windburn was worse than the sunburn a couple weeks ago! :)

Toss out one t shirt as you get one on arrival. And never refer to it as suncream. Call it anti mildew cream to avoid angering the alread touchy weather gods.

Aka as smalls...well my case shuts - just. Have no 'anti-mildew cream' what are the odds it's not worth buying?

Anything else now is going to have to go in my handbag or else in with the wellies (and lovely, hygienic Thames mud that is reluctant to come off).

Thank you all for your reccomendations

Hi Clare

I bought a pair of cheap wellies in Carlisle on my way to Vindo 3 x digs ago and they lasted half way into the second week of my stay before caving in to wear and tear, so a good quality pair would be the go I recon.

A big hello to Michael & Helen, remember the Aussie from the other side of the Inter-vellum road.

Cheers

Hi Phil

Yes of course we remember you, especially our outing to Sunderland for the Football Match.

Have you been back to Vindolanda since we dug there together? We have visited regularly but have not been able to get excavation places for one reason or another.

If you are ever back in England, let us know and Michael will go to the footie with you again.

Here are a couple of photos that might bring back memories
