Week 2 - March 30th - April 3rd
Week 3 - April 5th - April 10th

The excavations have continued through the past two weeks with the weather getting a little better at times but mostly more of the same. However, the teams that have been in over the past two weeks have done some fantastic work and it is safe to say that despite the weather, and only being in week 3, we are alreay at least one week ahead of schedule. So a big thank you to all of the week 2-3 crew members for their cheerful efforts.

What follows are team pics and some other photo's of the excavations.

best,

Andy

Not quite the finished article, but heading in the right direction, the western granary standing tall. This building will do a great deal to enhance the visitors enjoyment of the fort at Vindolanda with it's fine masonry.

Robbed away....the west wall has been sacked by some farmers.....damn them!
The photo shows the surviving floor of the building, a rubble filled trench where the west wall used to be and a cobbled street outside the west wall...

Never trust a farmer!!

But seriously, what's left is truly amazing. Such beautiful masonry. Can't wait to see it in person.

I'm loving the archaeology. The granary wall is really impressive, and as Harry says, can't wait to see it in person in July. Keep posting the pics guys.

Kate. ;)
