Justin's Tweet this morning suggests a pretty slow & soggy start to the week. Still, a placholder page for Week 16. If you're digging this week and have a moment, please drop a line to keep us up to date. Been an awesome year so far.

As always, feel free to contact me directly at text_style@hotmail.com if you would like to post thoughts or pictures but are having trouble.

John and I began to excavate the drain on the north side of the east-west road through the 3rd and fourth century fort this morning. This was after we had helped bail out the excavation area under the north-south road through the fort. Conditions were really poor today, very wet for most of the afternoon. Still we hope for a better day tomorrow.

Went up to see the site today, I reckon the guys will be getting webbed feet the amount of rain pouring down, took some photos anyway. The turf is coming off in the vicus near the west gate looks like there's a strip house wall appearing

Visited site today. Glorious weather. Fort drying up nicely. Have enclosed three pix of the new work undertaken by Indiana and his three cohorts, in the vicus, west of the west gate. Our Vindolanda guide informed us that the stone channel was used to bring fresh water into the vicus.
Good weather is forecast for the next couple of days, so hopefully, week 17 should get off to a flying start.
