An updated map for the end of Wk 10/start of Wk 11:

(zoomed-out version here)

From Justin's tweets it looks like interesting things happening in the NW corner of 7. Proper stone wall foundations & right-angles. Who's on site & can help shine a light about this & other goodies?

Looks very intriguing, looking forward to seeing what becomes of it. I wonder how much further west the buildings go?

Excellent picture on Justin's Twitter feed about the happenings over in the NW corner of "7" on the plan. Really good-looking stonework.

And Beth & Alex's blog is reporting that some of the cobbling showing up over in the North Field is actually Victorian -- with a neat array of Victorian pottery & ceramics coming up.

Details of this week in the North Field -- as well as nice pictures of the Wall itself -- here.

Who from WeDig's in the main trenches this year? Would love to see more of what's coming up & where.

Bag nearly packed and camera ready for next week, any diggers in the twice brewed pub this Sunday, see you there.

Snowglobe
with you in spirit on Sunday, smile in a generally westward direction and think of poor working drudges.

Dang. Seemed like it had a good chance to be a Roman feature, a metaled roadway of some kind.

That pint does look mighty tasty, 6 weeks to go before I can down one of those...

Not much to report for this week. Monday was spent deturfing to reveal more of the western area particularly the road and ditch that had been found the previous week. The rest of the week was involved in peeling back the layers to find these features. As Justin has tweeted, one group found a lovely drain which curves round to the west. Not much in the way of small finds. We were unable to dig on Friday due to the rotten weather but we had a series of excellent lectures instead that were very informative. Thanks to Justin and Barbara.

Looking forward to next week which hopefully will allow for a full week's digging.
