Neat group of pictures from the event: http://www.flickr.com/groups/hadrian.

And a -serious- winner for compilation flyover videos (great stuff crammed into just 30 seconds): http://heritage-key.com/blogs/ann/light ... rians-wall

Harry - Thanks so much for posting the photos and links. I have been waiting for days to see this, even though I won't be at the Wall until June.

My pleasure Beverly! Great article in the Journal Live: http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east ... -26031565/. There's an interview there with the Twice Brewed's own Brian Keen. It all just looks like it was a great time.

"Sun's setting right now, Web cams showing a gorgeous evening. Hope it goes off splendidly!"

Yes it did Harry.
I walked up to Winshields Crags just north of Twice Brewed, wondering just how many people would be out. The roadside was lined with abandoned cars and loads of people walking to the Wall.

This beacon was just east of Winshields Crag, the sun has set and the official lighters are all prepared.

Looking back to Steel Rigg and Crag Lough. The line of beacons in the distance are being lit and gradually move closer along the Wall.

The red flare is at Steel Rigg, see the lights of traffic on the Military Road, and on the Stanegate road in the distance.

More flares were lit as a helicopter flew over filming the event. Temperature was falling, by the time I walked down to the road the traffic was still in chaos, never usually seen in these parts!

Hello to all those who made the Illuminated Wall come true! I saw it on the news and it looked so beautiful. Well done in getting such publicity, your event certainly grabbed attention!
Hope to be there myself next time!

We went up onto Walltown Crags to watch the Illumination and it was a wonderful experience.

I think I have finally worked out how to make my photos less than 200KB so I can post them on here.

The first is was taken while we were waiting for the sun to set, looking East from near Turret 45A:
