Just found this in a search: http://aretiredlife.blogspot.com/2010/0 ... landa.html

Neat story about what sounds like a tough week!

I dug that (non)road out with them -- it was ridiculously hard work. Pick-axe and shovel -- no delicate trowel work at all. You know you are not going to dig up anything good when you find roofing paper a good foot under the topsoil!

via preaetorium as it approached the north gate?

I recall digging some modern debris further south on that road and being assured by the wise that it had never been excavated before.

we wonders, yes we does.

Ditto to what Karen said. We were in the trench with you (Ken and Chris). Can you remember the foil wrapper that contained the used Dispirin tablet. Very apt!!!!! Still all good fun. Makes you appreciate the good trenches more.
