I don't think the US Navy should be.  That was the story I responded to.  The manufacturers should.  If the parts are out of warranty they should probably extend themselves to get things back online and keep a valued customer happy.

Irrelevant for a client, it was put into a BAE product. Their ship, their responsibility.

Wall Street Journal article by Rob Taylor is perhaps the first article to suggest that the US FFG(x) programme could be informed by the SEA 5000 decision.  The article provides advice that the Board advising the Aust Govt is stacked with US Officials including the former Secretary of the US Navy Donald Winter as well as the former president of Ingalls Shipbuilding.

Its kind of a throw away line atthe end of the article.  Its not at all clear that the two navies are looking for the same thing.

I thought it the most significant part of his article, similar to the SEA 1000 programme.

Interesting, as we know only the FREMM and F100 are common to both programmes.

given LCS+ is being tendered against the USN requirement I think they are likely very different reqts and therefore have no bearing on each other

its conceivable FREMM could win both but even then they would be likely different ships

We don't know what has been offered but if FREMM is being offered with 2 x GTs, why not just buy the F100 which comes with 2 x GTs, Aegis and no mucking around trying to fit US systems and 32 Mk41 when you can have 48 Mk41.
