An extremely graphic example of how backward the understanding about the correct treatment and conservation of historical monuments has become in Armenia since independence.
The full scale of it is shamelessly documented in a new pdf publication by the actual vandal responsible for it, Research on Armenian Architecture:http://www.raa-am.com/Book_17/Dad_poqr.pdf
At first I thought it was just the bad roofing, but I guess it is progressing systemically with the floors, machine cut stone walls ...
Isn't it normal to usually conduct excavation and sweep the area for missing and damaged masonry and stone before restoring or conserving anything???
I guess nor varagavank's turn has come
