Thoughts On 8 Million Serial 16753 NON-Nipple Dial GMTs

From a looks standpoint, I prefer the look of the TT 16753 transnationals that had the gold surrounds be it Root Beer or Black. I have an opportunity to get a nice 8 million serial one, but I wanted to know if there is a value difference on the market between say an 8 million with gold surrounds vs a 7 million with nipple dial all things being equal in condition? I don't want to get taken if there is a huge difference in the current market.

I can buy it for $3700. Thick case, serviced, reasonable Jubilee etc...

Thoughts?

It feels like there is a small premium for the nipple dial variant. However, having owned both in the past, I prefer the look of 18k to 14k (maybe less yellow), which is only non-nipple.

And where is the information from.

14k was more for the American market made concurrently with 18k.

I'm not sure this is true information.

Was referring to the 16753, though I think you are right. Were they made concurrently. Most of the nipple dials I have ran across have been 14k.

When was the switch to white/yellow gold surrounds, 1985ish?

Probably some slop either direction

Rolex started phasing out the 14k in the US seemingly around the same time I think.

Still saw 16013's with 14k...as late as 82
