My father in law handed these to my wife. He said he bought nit in Vietnam :o some decades ago.

I am asking to see whether we should keep these and service them.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd say both are genuine.

spend on servicing them. You might end up spending A LOT more then these watches are worth.

Agreed if you don't plan to wear them...it's not worth it.

check out the following ebay auction.

gold watch:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... true&rt=nc

though subtract about $200 for the solid gold band that your watch does not have

then, there is this one - but it brought the money because of the dial, thus cannot be compared to your watch:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... true&rt=nc

SS, oyster perpetual:http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... true&rt=nc

you band is better, so assume extra $100.

Hope this helps,

Vlad

I'll proceed with the repair if the service cost is not high
