This year we wanted a warm New Years party,
so up to Dubai to meet up with some old friends.

I also meet up with a very nice collector from Jakarta.

Honestly, there's no vintage Rolex in Dubai / Aby Dhabi,
at least I haven't found it. I did the gold souks but hardly
anyone could show a vintage Rolex between the enormous
outlet of modern new Rolex, heavily discounted. Cash is king.

Only 2 pieces that came up after I asked everywhere for vintage...

Up to Burj Khalifa & Dubai Mall....

No steel new Explorer 1 or 2, green sub, milgauss, daytona, gmt but gold & bling orientated stock ;-(

Up to Abu Dhabi Ferrai World, on new years eve we went to see Coldplay at the island
what is also used for the Volvo Ocean race that just arrived in the harbor...

Off course my son had to drive, and off course he was faster then me

0 to 240 kmh in 5 less then 5 seconds...

Check Alonso's face here on youtube to get a idea how fast it is

Time to relax in Dubai Marina, with famous Barasti bar Not easy to get used to
the fact there's no alcohol, besides when you go to these Hotel Clubs, it can become

lol, i had to make a picture of these wal-rus ))

The Party Boot

Preparing for the night...

Coldplay...Paradise, Paradise...

Heading back home after another great trip!

I really liked it, hope you enjoyed it!

... yes, that is the fun of souks, flea markets and rotten shops.
They dont know what they sell anyway, I brought back tons of parts for peanuts.
Then, modern AD's also have a lot of old Rolex they take back from customers coming from India, Iran, Pakistan buying new ones... you just have to know how things work there.
Then, a lot of VRF members are not exactly looking for 6541 or Comex which you wont find in the Emirates but there are interesting Rolex Oysters with old riveted bracelets or seldom seen dials. But once again you surely are right, I just go twice a year to the Emirates so what do I know? Nice pictures and thanks for sharing anyway Philipp.

Instead of being cold here in England!

Vintage Rolex is definitely hard to find in the Emirates, and usually the best is on your own wrist!

I am pleased to see you managed to pull yourself away from the watches, Philipp, and enjoy time with your family!!

I hope you got to the top of Burj Khalifa (and not Tom Cruise style, but from the inside!). It is a great experience

Thank you for the report, I was looking forward to it!

you can contact Abdulmagied on my behalf he is the son of the Rolex tycoon (Seddiqi Snr) in all the Emirates. He will be glad to direct you to the good places in Dubai next time you go there and he also might show you some really rare birds.

BTW his best friend is the one buyer of the Enamel Rolex recently sold for $$$$$$$.
