I wonder if A major Rolex service center just discards old bezels, crowns, inserts, dials etc. in the dumpster in the back of their building? If they did...... I'm thinking GOLD MINE

I had a Patek serviced at Henri Stern in New York a few years ago. The watch needed a new rotor (gulp!) and when I asked if I could keep the old rotor and turn it into cuff links, I was told the rotor would be sent back to Patek in Switzerland for analysis, etc! So I am wondering if other watch companies have similar methods for their "used" parts. I really would not put it past Rolex to keep rarer dials for special clients or museum reasons. Maybe analyze the effects of sun on tritium dials and different levels of patina?!?!

Granted it would be nice to dumpster dive in old dials, although old hands could be painful!! haha

But I'm sure inserts, and some dials were simply just thrown out. I cannot believe Rolex would want every faded bezel that was replaced, and probably quite a few dials.

IMHO and everybody has one on this matter is that nothing is thrown out somebody gets it and it finds its way back on the market at some point.Do not believe me just look at ebay day after day for many years rare dials, hands etc are offered for sale as if there is an endless supply.........
