These two are just examples, I'm not trying to single anyone out.

So if that rule was consistently applied then I'd understand, but it's not.

robot Curiousity is actually wearing a Speedmaster but the Rocket Pack that lowered it to the ground was wearing a Rolex GMT Master. Both watches will be recovered by the next Mars probe. It will send them back to earth where they will be auctioned on eBay. The technical reason for using vintage watches on the probe was because they weigh less than the new obease version. Later smaller and lighter probes will wear bubblebacks.
