the hands are aftermarket

the dial is not from this case

the bezel is genuine

as this batch does not have serial in back...and obviosuly has been to some degree put together, you would want confirmation that it has correct back numbers from Rolex.

your HK service record does nothing but confirm the mid case has been to rolex in HK at some point ...it does not confirm what specification it went in when submitted to Rsc...it does not confirm the configuration now compared to original supply ..and most likely it does not confirm that they even checked the numbers with Rolex UK.

you don't get a full spec problem free provenanced 5517 for 50kgbp..and no dealer would sell you one at that, and no dealer would ask that unless they knew something wasn't quite right. If £50k is your budget find a good 5513 instead...much better to sleep at night.

you got an answer from one of the few real milsub experts.

what are you expecting?

do you think someone else tells you jeds rating is wrong?
telling you the watch is perfect, no issue?

if i am jed this was my last assistance for you.

You shouldn't buy the watch thinking your buying a 100% correct, matching Milsub 5517, but you don't wanna hear that.
Just my opinion

Best, D

hey fellows, jed is a perfect nice guy with tons of milsub knowledge with no doubt, but i also got some opinions from other vintage rolex experts and said this is a original 5517(only the hand doesn't match), so that's why i post this to public to seek more professional comments(with friendly attitudes of course), and i trust jed personally but not blind to believe everything he said....better to prove it myself from other sources, and forum is one way....am i right?

But Jed is probably the most qualified guy around , the "eminence grise" of the milsub mafia, so to speak
If he says the dial is incorrect for 5517 and points out the lack of documents stating your case/caseback match theres not much more anyone else can add
Unless you want to hear a differing statement which its starting to sound like?

Just out of interest; who told you the dial is a correct 5517 dial? Or maybe they meant correct Milsub dial not stating reference?

Ciao, D
