If there is a family link to IBS can this hurt or help a Gulf War presumptive claim for it?

Several ways to look at it.

Va Rules say the benefit of the doubt goes to the Vet. Can you say your family history, or time in service is the more likely method you got IBS? If not, the benefit goes to the Vet.

Nobody knows about your family history, unless a doc has put it in writing, or you mention it. I do not recall anyone ever asking me about family history of IBS.

The family history will not help at all. will it hurt? I would not go volunteering any information that is not asked.

When you talk to some of the researchers like I have you will find they want to say Role of Genetics is it causes everything.
You only talk about your problem and when it started after the war, the symptoms now and when you was diagnosed.
