Glad I don't have to wear those.
I don't see a darn thing wrong with dungarees.
I bet whoever made the decision doesn't have to wear them either.
Does the Navy have a new rank to make clothing decisions?

Probably some friend of some bigwig determined there was lots of money to be made by getting the Navy to buy all new sets of uniforms for its personnel. This will end up just like the uniform change they made back in the 60's (and cost more money when they decide to switch back).

Actually the new work uniform was decided by polling the enlisted sailors. About 3 years ago TFU (Task Force Uniform) was established by CNO (with committee made up of Seaman rank up through Chiefs to MCPON) to see what current Navy personnel wanted as a working uniform. Apparently the new crop of kids like the BDU style and it won out. After that the Navy decided what it should look like and they now have the Grey/blue/white cammo pattern and a 16-point hat (similar to USMC 8-point style) and boots. Neat, huh? NOT!

These uniforms are on sale at Navy Exchange (for those who are already in service - boot camp personnel will be issued them) and all personnel will be required to have them by the end of next year. (if my memory is correct)
The current Army style Green-Brown Forest type BDU worn by
Navy MP's and security will be eliminated in favor of the new style.

Maybe, as another has suggested, the fad will fade in future years with the traditional uniform returning. (As did CNO Zumwalt's similar attempt to placate sailors die out by the 1990's)

As Tevi sang, in Fiddler on the Roof, "Tradition... tradition...." (Ya can't argue with that)

This looks tooo much like the Marines Uniform, Not that there is anything wrong with the marine uniform.
It's just the navy has an image, it's going to be hard to tell the difference from a distance.
