Spirits in the wind

Those who have gone before me
Look back and try to say
Follow the path of freedom
There is no other way.

Although we can not hear them, those voices from the past,
They walk beside us and remind us to help their spirits last.
Hold on to what we left you and do not ever give ground
To those who would take freedom from you, for they are all around.

We all fought for our country and for our way of life
So our children could live in comfort, absent fear and strife.
We fought those who would seek to kill us for thinking differently
About our God, our lives, our families and who we choose to be.

We did our best with what we had and never did back down
No matter what the cost of freedom, and you see its still around.
You go to schools you want to, choose a husband or a wife,
Enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, live a fruitful life,

But pause briefly for a moment in the stillness of the day
To listen to the whispers of those who have gone away.
Its now your watch, freedoms torch has been passed
Its up to you to defend it and make our liberties last

The sands of time are finite, they will not forever last
One day your spirit will look back on what has come to pass
If you leave the world a better place and stood up for what was right
Your spirit will be in the wind they hear in the mornings light.

Bob you have such a way with words. Sounds like you should become a writer of poetry and sell your works.

I only hope this generation keeps the freedom ball rolling.
