Just checked the NOAA website and they predict the Ohio at Evansville (currently at 45.86 feet) will crest at 46.9 feet on Wednesday around noon. This is slightly (.12 feet) above the 2011 crest (69.78). Given current conditions, the Ohio will begin to recede sometime after 6:00 a.m. on Thursday. It is worth noting that the projections are running about .34 feet over the actual readings.

Thanks Ray! Since you are a Doctor of Geography and I know you have done so much in cartography and climatology as well,
I appreciate this. You understand better than I can!

The river is starting to recede. Fortunately I still have my UDT frogman suit and was able to make it to the office and ship. I painted a new high water mark on the cells. Went down to check on John Hatton's precious engines....the heaters were still working so all is good. Swam back out through the parking lot. Passed over a red dodge pickup, must be Terry's or Bob Pointers, checked to make sure no bodies inside, nothing in there but a Pabst Blue Ribbon partial six pack and some fuzzy dice tied onto the rear view mirror.

Let's see what the river does this week and hopefully I will be able to report that we'll be open next Saturday.

Chris, thank you so much for checking on the ship and the water levels there. We do appreciate it. I know John Engstrom and John Tallent were there, and most likely others. ALL of you are appreciated.

They are clearing debris in the parking lot. It turns out the red dodge pickup was BPs. Insurance scam I reckon....he's been wanting a new Ford like John Engstrom's.

Chris
I haven't drank PBR since boot camp.
things dangling from rear view mirror drive me crazy.

Not my truck. Must have floated in on the high tide.

Channel 14 was at the Plaza looking toward the LST with one of their cameras.
They had received reports of a possible sighting of a loch ness type monster swimming near the LST.
Naturally, like all photos of the creature it is fuzzy and lacks detail so it was hard to see if it was Chris or not.
