Remember to vote on Tuesday (if you haven't already voted early like me - since I am in Mobile at present). One of the rights/privileges/responsibilities you veterans have guaranteed for us. This message has been approved by .........

<font face="comic sans ms" color=navy size=4>Not when it comes to voting, anyway. (I know ... it's a standard joke ...)

She's been putting in some very long hours -- and a LOT of work -- the past few months. I sure wouldn't care to be in her shoes tomorrow. But at least she'll be "over the hump" after that (hopefully).

Do her a big favor. Vote ONCE!

Let's all be thinking of her tomorrow, and wishing her all the bestest.

I, for one, will be glad to see her back here on the forum more often.

For our favorite SeaBat:

My daughter will be working at a Poll in San Diego (in case you don't remember it's that town with the docks north of Tijuana). Also remember, we all only Vote for Winners no matter the out come.

Isn't that what they used to say in Chicago under the Daley regime?

I've done my duty/privilege... and thank you to all you veterans out there who have protected our right to do so!

<font face="comic sans ms" color=navy size=4>I voted ... LATE ... ONCE!

Having been born and raised in the Windy City, I well remember Hizzoner, machine politics, rewards system, multiple voting, ghost voting, etc. It was embedded so deeply that it was just plain generally accepted. (BTW, since we're talking 50 years ago, I don't think this falls under the "no-politics" provision of the Discussion Forum -- and I appreciate very much that everyone has honored that!)

Let's all send a clairvoyant good wish to SeaBat today. I'm sure she's under heavy fire. Hang in there, SeaBat!

I, too, want to express my sincere and humble thanks to all those in our country's long history who have made my little "I Voted Today" sticker possible.

finally...

Heavy fire was right, WebSkipper. The court rulings (one of which I heard about as I was driving to work at 5 a.m. on Election morning, others that came in during the day) made life 'interesting' to say the least.

I just appreciate the fact that they/you DID vote, the Veterans whose service allowed us the privilege, and the fact that we live in a Country where we can make choices. Like Tom's sentiment above, we're all winners when the system works and it did yesterday. Sure, glitches happen - we are human - but for the most part, it sounds as if things went fairly smoothly across the Nation. That is a good thing. Turnout here (from preliminary reports) was 75% or better...

Hope that I will have some much needed R & R...with all of you! Have a "gallery" on a board in my office...the 125, 325 and many of the shipmates. Several people in and out of my office yesterday noticed and commented...and enjoyed looking at the photos.

Thanks for the very kind thoughts...helped me get through the last month and a very long day yesterday!
