Yes, 27 hours preparing the Radio Room for three simultaneous operations and 15 continuous hours of on-the-air activity Saturday by four crew members who are also Navy Auxiliary radio operators.
The annual Military to Amateur Radio interoperability test puts our ship on the Military airwaves using our ship call NWVC, joining other Navy ships, Coast Guard, Army and Air Force stations, and contacting Radio Amateurs nationwide.
We were also one of a select group transmitting the Secretary of Defense (Ashton Carter) message to all listeners, at the conclusion of the day, using traditional Morse Code while other military stations used other digital modes.
We ended each radio contact with an invitation to view our website, thereby increasing our advertising potential at no cost to the ship. How about that!
