Interesting picture of LST325 posted here. I'm not advertising it... just found it on a google search & think it's a different view.
I corrected the original link I posted (It had an extra > at the end... )thanks Corpsman for finding the error for me.

Just in case anyone is wondering where and when I am almost positive that picture was taken in Alton. It may have stated that in the picture information that I did not read but I recognize some of the items showing in the picture.

It was those particular blades of grass that gave it away....lol

Click on jo's highlighted www site. Click on menu "Military." Go to page 18.
LST-325's stern view is titled "Carrier Docked on . . ." Go figure! Must have been a landlubber who titled picture.

Also found 3 pics of a sunken WWII craft that someone might know more about:
Can anyone determine what is in the 1st picture taken over the rail of the sunken ship?

I found the pic you're referring to Bob & when I went back to see it again it's gone (or moved to a page further behind or in front of as far as I went). It did say "carrier" docked on Ohio side of Kentucky river & I was wanting to see where it was taken. Oh well, you snooze you loose! lol!

The Shutterpoint site has a lot of great pics that I hadn't seen before since I went direct to the pic I referred to. If anyone wants to brouse pics (military & others) here's the main site with the index:
http://www.shutterpoint.com/Photos-BrowseCat.cfm
The military section addy is:
http://www.shutterpoint.com/Photos-Brow ... ?cat_id=38
I'm not advertising the site, they do charge for the pics but it's a nice place to brouse for neat pics!
Perhaps someone has some great shots they can put on here & sell!

Jo - it is an LCT (Landing Craft, Tank)Mk V (this model had only a bow ramp - the last picture (of the deckhouse) is the giveaway. These are the craft that were often loaded onto the main deck of an LST and carried across the Pacific or Atlantic before being offloaded. More information (including two pictures showing a MK V) at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landing_craft_tank
