The final tallies have been made, and the total number of people who visited a World War II-era ship while it was in Dubuque ranks in its Top 5. According to Travel Dubuque, which worked to bring the USS LST 325 to the Port of Dubuque, more than 16,600 people visited the ship during the five days it was open for tours. LST crew member Owen Chapman says that’s one of the largest groups that’s visited the ship since it’s been touring. Chapman and Julie Kronlage from Travel Dubuque both gave high praise to the Dubuque community for coming out to support the LST. Kronlage says with the success of the LST’s visit, Travel Dubuque will look at bringing in some additional military-themed attractions.
