Found a few pictures I took at the museum in New Orleans - thought I had a couple of the Higgins boat (LCVP) that Ron Maranto helped build. Here they are (along with the Sherman tank they have:

Ray.. What did the painted white triangle shape on the front of the tank mean?

According to Steven Ambrose, General Eisenhower when interviewed way after the war in the 50s or 60s said that in his opinion, Andrew Higgins was the man who won the war for us. That is how important he thought the contribution of the LCVPs was. Now we know they were affectionately called "Higgins Boats".
