LST-325 friends and ship mates. I recommend you all go see the movie "Darkest Hour". It tells the story of Prime Minister Winston Churchill during crucial weeks of May 1940, when the threat of Nazi invasion loomed over Great Britain. He screamed against the march of Nazi tyranny, bigotry and inspired the English people to resist at all cost. Again's all odds the British RAF beat off the German Luftwaffer during the "Battle of Britain" it was Churchill leadership that did that. I have been a WW II history buff for a long time and its great when they can make a WW II movie base on the facts and events as they happen. Take care. SARGE

for it to come to the local theatre. It looks like I may have to go to one in Columbus to see it soon, but it will be worth it!

Sarge:
This movie is on my list for this week. Too cold to be out so a good time to go enjoy a very good movie like this.
I would also like to suggest a very good book that has a lot of information about that period, and more. "Churchill's Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare". It was Churchill who countered the backwards thinking of the career Army officers and pushed for the shadow warriors. He knew that if the Germans came to England they might win. Britten was on her knees and needed hope. It was truly a dark time for her.

Good read, hard to put down once you start on it. Lots of first person accounts of a very dark time in British history.

My wife and I did go to see this movie, it was well worth the 100 mile round trip. We missed it when it played closer. This past summer we visited the National Churchill Museum on the Campus of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. This is where Churchill made his "Iron Curtain" speech. The museum is well worth the time. There are also several sections of the Berlin Wall on display that have been made into an outdoor sculpture that was designed by Churchill's grand daughter.
