I know LSTs were built in the Superior WI shipyards and their is a memorial. I am not aware if they were built in other locations as were Naval cruisers, battleships, carriers, frigates, and aircraft such as the B-17s. Does anyone know for certain?

I am aware of 16 shipyards that produced LSTs for WWII. I will start with the 7 Cornfield shipyards that were on the inland waterways and produced about 70% of them. Evansville IN produced the most LSTs of any one shipyard at 167. I've seen no record of Superior WI producing LSTs but maybe I can learn something from you. Can you take a picture of the memorial and send it? FYI, there is an LST Corporation in Superior but has nothing to do with LSTs. I hope this helps.

Seneca IL
Jeffersonville IN
Ambridge PA

http://www.navsource.org/ gives the basic information on each individual Navy ship and craft built since 1900 to present. Hope this helps. As you will find out the LST's built on the Great Lakes were post WWII.
