With all the prayers for other crew mwmbers, we must not overlook a local crew member who is also ill.

Charles Straeffer, one of Evansville's tour guides,
suffered a stroke a couple of months back.

Charlie is our oldest tour guide at age 88.

If you would like to send Charlie a card, you can mail it to: Charles Straeffer, c/o Newburgh Health Care Center, 10466 Pollack Ave. Newburgh, Indiana 47630.

Charlie was an officer in the Navy in World War two.

He always has a smile and a great sense of humor.

Thanks to all who respond and send a card to Charlie.

Thanks for letting us know and be assured many of us will send a card. I wasn't aware that he had suffered a stroke... so appreciate you posting it!

Thanks for the information. I was not aware of this one and will certainly get a card out in the mail. It's important for us to be aware of our LST family and those that need special prayers. Thanks, Tammy

I went by and saw Charlie at the health care facility today. Charlie was eating lunch with his wife in the dining room. Charlie struggles with his left arm and leg, but has some mobilty on his right side. He speaks plainly.

After lunch I wheeled him back to his room.

Charlie asked me to tell all his buddies on the LST "Ahoy."
