Back in WW II "Kilroy Was Here" lettering was found inside ships, airplanes. tanks and trucks. It was also found by soldiers on the battlefields on walls. Back then no one knew who to hell was Kilroy was, but he seem to be everywhere during WW II. Well it all got started with J.J. Kilroy during WW II at Fore River Shipyard Quiney , MA. J.J. Kilroy was a rivets inspector at the ship yard and at the end of his work shift. He would mark with chalk the last inspected rivet "Kilroy Was Here, so the next shift worker inspector would know where to start. Last week we placed a "Kilroy Was Here " sign on the Evansville Hometown Ship Yard display on the LST tank deck. So future generation will know the history and who Kilroy was and the part that generation played in war production. We do a great job of bringing history alive to the touring public on the LST-325. Take care. SARGE
