I sometimes wonder how we got used to walking, sleeping and eating when the deck was pitching constantly. Even in fairly calm seas the LST would roll slowly back and forth. During storms it has to be business as usual so we learned to deal with it. You learned quickly what the handrails in the passageways were for. I would stand watch with on hand on the sound powered phone microphone and the other holding on to something solid Your brain finally got used to it and it was second nature. I never got seasick but I have seen fellow sailors in agony with it.
