How many tug boats with barges are tied up outboard the LST. In the dense fog it appears like there are atleast three. Can some one confirm.

Tugs and barges have never tied up to the LST, nor will they ever. Not sure what you saw.

Take care and Merry Christmas

Thanks Mike. It must have been a ghost. It was all a trick of the lights reflecting off the rolling fog. Merry Christmas to you and the crew.

Never say never Mike. Didn't a barge furnished be a local company tie alongside to paint the starboard side of the ship? It may be needed again.

No barge tied up to the ship to paint it here in Evansville. I can't speak for any place else.

In 2006, a group of volunteers from Toyota Mfg. painted the starboard side from a platform that was pushed along by a boat own by Ron Riecken (an LST Memorial member), but it did not tie up to the ship. It slowly moved along the side of the ship while the folks painted. Perhaps this is what you're referring to.

You call it a platform, I'll call it a barge, but that is the item to which I was referring.

The question was what barges are tied up to the LST and the answer was barges do not tie up to the LST.

You're right, semantics are a matter of choice sometimes. The man who owns it calls it a "platform." And to me, calling it a barge is like calling an ant hill one of the Rocky Mountains, but who cares? It doesn't matter.

But it still did not tied up to the LST.
