Congratulations to Justin Allgaier, who got his first NASCAR win today in the Nationwide Series at Bristol! Why do I post this here on this message board? Justin is the grandson of Bud Allgaier, one of the LST-325's wartime crew. Way to go Justin, your grandpa would be proud!!

Isn't it amazing how the connections flow through our shipmates to people that we don't know but are part of the LST family??? My brother has been following Justin's progress (he's into racing), but I never knew about the connection to LST's. I'll have fun telling him!

Congratulations, Justin!!!

It was a beautiful day Saturday at Bristol, and a much deserved win for Justin (but not who I was rootin for). I'll post pics later.

They call Justin's fanbase the "Allgaier Army"... maybe we should start the "Allgaier NAVY"

Hopefully we'll be seeing him in the winners circle many more times!
Here's how he looked at the ship's reunion in 1999. He's not much bigger than that now!
