1. What are the days and hours for public tours?
Thursday, August 30-Monday, September 3 11:00-6:00 PM with the last tour happening at 6:00 PM. The ship leaves Tuesday morning, September 4.
2. Are private group tours available?
All private group tours have been pre-arranged with the USS LST 325 Crew. These tours happen from 9:00-11:00 am each day. If there are no group tours toward the end of this time-frame, they will begin allowing the public on board.
3. What are the admission prices?
$10/adult, $5/child 6-17 years old, 5 & under are free.
4. Are active duty or veterans allowed to tour for free?
Due to the tours being a major fundraiser to keep this piece of history alive, they only offer free admission to World War II Veterans. World War II Veterans will be allowed the option to enter the ship upon arrival.
5. Is the ship wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, this piece of history is not completely accessible but it is still possible! The first section of the tour route, the Tank Deck, is handicap accessible, the rest of the tour route requires the use of short but steep staircases. There are 6 sets of stairs in total with 3 leading up to the upper decks and 3 leading back down into the Tank Deck; one pair can potentially be skipped but the others are unavoidable.
6. Are tours self-guided or guided?
They are a mixture of both. There are veteran volunteers aboard to tell you about the ship, share stories of its history, and guide you to the next level of the ship. However, you’re free to spend time studying the exhibits and ship at your convenience, too.
7. How long does the tour of the ship take?
Around 45 minutes to 1 hour
8. Are tickets sold for specific times?
No, you will purchase & receive a ticket right before entering the ship.
9. What forms of payment are accepted at the entrance?
Cash and credit cards are accepted. Debit cards that can be used as credit are also accepted.
10. Are there items available for purchase?
The USS LST Memorial has items available for purchase on-site. They will also be selling water for those who need refreshment while waiting in line or upon leaving.
11. Where will parking be available?
The Isle has expansive parking options on property. Besides the parking ramp, several of the lots east of the ramp will be available for parking. Feel free to park in the West ramps (turn right when you enter the Isle property on George Thuenen Drive). Golf cart shuttles will be able to transport those who need a lift to the line. Please flag them down as you see them circling the lots.
12. Where is the ship heading after leaving the Quad Cities?
It will be in Chester, IL the following weekend.
13. Where is the ship docked when not touring?
It permanently lives in Evansville, IN and is available for daily tours throughout the year.
