It is a salute to safety measures and drills to know that no one was killed or really seriously injured. Those who did receive injuries are in my prayers and I hope yours as well!

I wonder if the new class Amphib has the technology to detect a sub?
I know ours did not.

The sub would already have firing solution. Subs use enviromental conditions to hide and lay in wait.DDG's, FFG's and SSN's as a rule will not go active "Pinging", except against Diesel/Electric subs.

Something else, changes in water temp., salinity, currents and depth can raise caine with the control of a sub.

I you remember Bob, tracking with a weapon and lighting them up with the fire control radar is a "hostile act"

When we were stationed in San Diego to practice beaching and deploying equipment we were warned, as tempting as it was, do not track military aircraft in the area with fire control radar.
