I promised a museum official friend at the America/Gold Beach Museum in Normandy that I would try to get a listing of the units that LST 325 took to Gold Beach during 1944. The US 987th Field Artillery Battalion landed D+1 on Gold Beach and was the only American unit I know of that landed on Gold Beach during the Normandy invasion. The information will be used by the museum to inform visitors and I hope encourage them to visit LST 325.
LST-325 made one trip to Gold Beach during the invasion. They beached at 1230 hours on July 5th at the Jig Sector of Gold Beach. Aboard were 59 vehicles, 8 officers, and 163 enlisted under the command of a Captain Graham, Royal Army Signal Corps. This information is taken from the ship's deck log.
