7 player trade. Padres get Kimbrel. Braves get Maybin and prospects.

How did the Braves get the Padres 41st pick in this year's draft? I didn't think teams could trade picks in baseball.
"When I walk down the street and meet people," Ted Williams once said, "I just want them to think 'There goes the greatest hitter who ever lived."

"David Ortiz is the greatest clutch hitter to ever wear the uniform of the Boston Red Sox," Henry said.

And then when I walked down the street people would've looked and they would've said there goes Roy Hobbs, the best there ever was in this game.

Poor Braves fans. Trading away their lights out closer on the eve of the season.

The Braves must have signed a Padres free agent, right? Where's FAB??????

The Padres will be interesting to watch given all they've done this off season.

I'd like to think our defense is going to make some of the plays that the Cubs are not making behind Jon Lester tonight.

Let's see...he cheated (confirmed, not rumored), sued the local team, sued baseball, missed an entire season, and the fans welcome him back with open arms? Proof positive people see what they wish to see.

Also proof that most fans, especially in NY and LA, root for laundry, don't read much, but do recognize famous names.

Or, another way to look at it is that cheering for ARod is cheering against the team he sued.

Marcell Ozuna in no hurry to sign extension

Ozuna, who reached the majors in 2013, said he has essentially placed this decision in the hands of Boras, whose younger clients rarely sign long-term contracts that would require them to give away free-agent years on the back end. Ozuna said that if Boras could negotiate "a good deal," he would agree.

-----------------------------------------------------------
This is what I hate to see. He's leaving this in the hands of Boras? Ugh. Boras does well for some clients and lousy for others. He's got his own agenda and he uses players to further that agenda. The Marlins' outfielder Yelich signs a 7 year, 50million dollar deal. If anything happens to him, he's got 50 million dollars. If something happens to Ozuna, he's got a few years of making a half million. Yep, you only get to do this job for 15 years if you are lucky but 'don't worry about your future', Boras tells you. How about carefully weighing the pros and cons? I can't stand Boras.

The Rays do a lot of things right (at least, a lot of things that are in no way related to ballpark or uniform design).

They do seem to have a history of drafting guys who are trouble, though.

MLB's first lifetime ban for PEDs.

No excuse, but I have to guess that he really just didn't know what he was doing. There are so many ridiculous supplements out there, and it's such a shady business, that I would imagine it's not that hard to end up cheating without knowing that you're cheating.

Which, of course, is why you're supposed to make an effort to make sure you're not cheating -- which this idiot obviously didn't do.
