Player signed on waivers?

In reading Drinnans Blog I found this tidbit. Portland has cancelled their next preseason game due to lack of players. They had an injury in our tournament and I guess a player was claimed on waivers. Drinnan writes:

The player the Winterhawks lost on waivers? It was F Lukas Walter, 18, who was claimed by the Tri-City Americans. He had one goal in three exhibition games with Portland.

I hadn't heard anything on this...What do you guys know?

But I'm not surprised Bob is bringing him in. I've been pretty unimpressed with our 18 y/o forwards so far, I like our 16's and 17's much better so far. Hope he cam play.

Led his team in PIM's by a pretty large margin, but only 9 pts in 38 games.

why do we need this guy.ive been pretty happy with dickson so far and when you compare stats dickson had 365 pims compared to walters 188 and 14 points compared to walters 9 in only 3 more games then walter. why is bob trying to add more toughness when dickson can clearly fill that role. he should be looking for more defense or play makers

Just because we got him on waivers doesn't mean he'll play with the Ams. Could be a fall back guy if there is an injury, etc. Or, could be that Bob wants to push the kids by showing them their spots aren't safe and he will look elsewhere if needed. More competition is never a bad thing.
