Well with a quarter of the season to go, it looks like it's a three horse race, between Whitby, Nations and Orangeville. whitby's offense has been more consistent throughout the season this year, but both Nations and Orangeville have found their stride in the last 8 or nine games. Defensively I'd give nations the edge but just barely, over whitby, orangeville after inconsistent goaltending seems to becoming into it's own.
Next two teams, Petes and Brampton, both have good offenses, just a notch below the big three, but a major drop off in defense, keeps these two teams from running with the big three. Both teams need an upgrade in goaltending, too inconsistent to compete with top teams. These teams should meet in the first round of the playoffs, should be a high scoring entertaining series .
The next three playoff teams as of now, St. Kitts, Burlington Kitchener, you probably have the biggest surprise in the league so far in Kitchener, and the biggest under achiever in St. Kitts.
Kitchener was picked by most people to finish dead last this year, but have been very competitive most nights. Kitchener's offense is provided mostly by two players, more players need to get involved to be a threat to the teams ahead of them, Goaltending has been strong for the braves this year.
St. Kitt's was picked to be in the top five, but a sputtering offense, and a weak defense, has left this team in the last playoff spot, maybe the big overtime win the other night might kick start this team.
Burlington, just doesn't have the depth or enough top end talent to compete with the top five teams on a consistent basis, but a hard working team.
Just my views on a cloudy sunday morning...Happy father's day.
