Game 3 of the first round OJBLL playoff series between the second seed Green Gaels and the seventh seed Mimico Mountaineers takes place Thursday, June 28th at 8PM at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex at the corner of Highway 2 and Regional Road 57 in Bowmanville.
The Green Gaels take a 2 - 0 series lead into game three and they will be looking to finish the series off with a strong showing to carry some momentum into the second round of playoffs.
Game #2 of the series saw the Green Gaels double up the double blue in all three periods, culminating in a 16 - 8 final at the Mimico Arena Tuesday evening. The Mountaineers held the lead twice in the first period but were unable to hold on throughout the full sixty minutes to take the victory and even the series.
The Mountaineers have seen their offense spread throughout the line up with eight different players scoring in the playoffs which has kept the Gaels on their toes. Dereck Downs of Mimico has been playing very well in the offensive zone drawing players in a dishing the ball off to teammates, as shown by his four assists.
The Gaels have seen a couple of faces emerge in the post-season with Brock Levick and Brendan Fox contributing strongly towards the offense, with 7 and 5 goals respectively. The Gaels transition game has been strong as well providing a well rounded offense in the playoffs thus far.
Tickets for the 8PM start are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, while children 12 and under are admitted free under the supervision of an adult.
Kids are reminded to bring their helmets and sticks to go on the floor in between periods!
