I breathed in the sweet air of Cedar Town, excited to finally be starting my own pokemon journey. Although mom and my pestery sister would still be in my thoughts, I was ready for the next step in my life. I'd just left from Professor Autumn's lab, and now held two pokeballs in my hand. One held a Magikarp; probably not the best choice for a beginning trainer, but I wanted a Gyarados some day, and I was willing to wait and work for it. But right now, Magikarp wouldn't be of much use. I tucked the pokeball safely in my jacket pocket. The second pokeball, on the other hand, held my new Charmander. A tingle of excitement crept down my spine at the thought. My own Charmander. I clicked the round button on the front of the pokeball. The ball popped open, a red light spilling forth, materializing into my little fire lizard. She appeared with her eyes closed tight against the bright sunlight of the day. She shook her little head as she adjusted to the change, then looked up at me, blinking.

"Hi Charmander," I said. "I'm your new trainer, Snowl. It's a pleasure to meet you!" She blinked at me, cocking her head to the side while she sized me up. She held one hand to her chin thoughtfully, held the other hand behind her back, then began to circle around, viewing me up and down from all sides. I stood there, a bit confused. What was she doing?

After circling me twice, she stopped and sighed with an expression that read, I suppose she'll have to do. Then she looked up at me with a forced smile, obviously trying to look excited about her new trainer... but perhaps trying too hard. My mouth twitched. Typical. My first pokemon doesn't approve of me. Bah. Act cool. Act cool. "So, shall we see what Cedar Town has to offer?" I asked, trying to maintain my cheeriness. Charmander nodded in a way that reminded me of how a devious child replies to a parent that just asked if she'd been good today after she stomped mud all through the house. "Eh-heh... great, then let's look around!"

Your charmander then breated in and out. The fire poemon then started to wag it's tail from side to side as it looked up at you with suspicion. It looks like the charmander has yet to grow it's trust with you. It makes since though, considering your a beginning trainer, and it's one of your beginning pokemon that you just started with.

As you were walking your charmander preferred to walk behind you, because it thought that it would be better that way. The charmander figured if you walked in front of it that it could keep a close eye out on you. As you and her were walking she thought she heard something therefore she started to walk towards the left. You didn't exactly hear charmander walk away from you at the moment. Your charmander then disappeared inside a near by bush. What will you do now?

Not hearing those little footsteps anymore, I turned around to find myself alone. Bah. "Charmander? Where'd you go?" I noticed a couple leaves on the bush were smoldering, and put two and two together. "She must have gone over there. Charmander? What are you doing...?" I approached the bush to find...

When you approached the bush you started to hear noises. It looked like your charmander was nibbling on a few berries that it found on a bush. When all of a sudden a squirtle came out of a nearby pond that it was drinking out of and started to use water gun on your charmander. Charmander got mad as it turned around with anger. It seemed like your charmander wanted to show this squirtle who was boss. So you?

"Charmander, don't hate me for this, but I really don't think you battling a Squirtle that already knows a water attack is a good idea." Before she could object (or wander off again) I quickly returned her to her pokeball. "I still want to battle that Squirtle though..." Suddenly my pocket felt heavier. "Huh?" I pulled out a handful of pokeballs I didn't recognize. "Where did these come from??" I looked up. "God?" I looked back at the pokeballs. One was a Bayleaf, one a Luxio, and the last an Umbreon. "WOW..." My eyes found the Squirtle still within proximity. "Well here goes nothin'. Bayleaf, come on out!" I released my new pokemon who looked just as confused as I was as to how she got there. "Intros later. Bayleaf, use razor leaf on Squirtle!"

Squirtle heard your command to your bayleaf therefore it quickly moved out of the way when it saw that your pokemon was coming towards it. Then squirtle quickly turned back around and started to aim towards your bayleaf with at tackle attack. "Squirt!" It shouted as your bayleaf fell back a little ways. The squirtle then landed on it's feet and started laughing. "Squirtle, squirt!" It said giggling.

"Hmm... Okay Bayleaf, use reflect to raise your defense, since Squirtle's special attacks don't really hurt you too much. Then lower his attack with growl. I know we're not attacking for damage this turn, but be patient with me." Bayleaf smiled and nodded. Luckily for me grass types were generally more mellow than hot-headed fire types... like my Charmander.

Bayleef noddded it's head as it started to use reflect to raise it's defensed. "Bay," the bayleef said as she started to feel better than ever. "Squirt!" the squirtle started laughing. Squirtle then tried to use a tackle attack on your bayleef, but when it got close enough it missed. Your pokemon did manage to use it's growl attack though. Squirtle's attack had been lowered! It looks like your at an advantage here!

"Good Bayleaf! Now use razor leaf!" Type advantages were good, but so were stat advantages. I was glad Bayleaf managed to pull off both in this battle. But I had to wonder about where Squirtle came from. Was this a wild starter pokemon? I almost found that too good to be true. I wrapped my mind around this while Bayleaf prepared to attack...

Bayleef nodded as it rushed towards the squirtle for it's attack. The squirtle just looked bayleef straight in the eyes like it had something up it's shell. When your bayleef got close enough the squirtle tried to leap up and out of the way, but by the time it leaped up it was too late, therefore the squirtle went stumbling down because it couldn't dodge quick enough. The squirtle then got up quickly and started to go towards your bayleef, but your bayleef dodged it!
