Keana had been following Damon’s movements for a week now after an informant had told her that he had stumbled into a territory of a somewhat older vampire, well at least older than her informant, there wasn’t many vampires around that were as old as her anymore which was a strange feeling, almost as if even though there were plenty of vampires around in the world that somehow she was becoming one of a dying breed, maybe because the vampires of the new age were fall less intelligent it seemed, less honorable as even some of the most ruthless vampires she had known in her life, including her father, still had an honor code... The vampire of the day did not.
But one such as Damon still had a code, it was hard to see if you didn’t know where to look, but it was there... that part in him he always pretended was shut off, not that a vampire could actually shut off their humanity they way may portray, if there was a easy switch she would have been the master of it, but the truth is it was the same thing a human could do, just chose to be careless, even though you still have a part that cares anyone could just shut it off if they chose too. She had been doing that since childhood and it had become a habit, even now when she killed she would revert to becoming emotionless so that she would not suffer in that moment, it could wait... Now what was true was that vampires seemed to be able to keep that coldness about them for a much longer time than most humans, Keana simply believed that it was because of the curse of immortality that gave them that advantage, because of the beast they had to become just to survive.
Yes Damon Salvatore had a code, he acted like a world class @$$ but he had honor, he had a reason in the madness, he knew that being what he was meant that he had no business pretending like he wasn’t, clinging onto the human part because to do that... for people like them, they would cling on with everything they had and when it got ripped away. Keana closed her eyes a moment, her dear Everett, her one mistake over all her years, the time in her life when she thought that she could have a little part of a human life and as it slowly ripped from her she had become darker than she ever had been before, it was only her vow to her love, that vow that had her there now watching over Damon, it was that mistake that tortured her everyday still, because no matter how much she wanted to stop the pain she could not release it, not fully... And here watching over Damon she was tortured just by seeing his face as the realization was hovering over her head like a dark cloud... Damon and his brother were the last of Everett’s line... She had failed her love in protecting them and how much Damon reminded her of Everett.
Keana opened her eyes looking down just as three vampires entered the brothel that Damon was in, she knew what they were there for and who sent them... Of coarse Damon being Damon he had gotten on Setae's (the vampire over that territory) bad side and she had warned him to leave town, but as Keana knew Damon took the threat with a grain of salt. Keana knew that this would be a mistake on his end as Setae’s boys were older and quicker than Damon, and a bit more ruthless, plus with the brothel he hung out at being one of Setae’s places of business there would be more vampires there who would turn on him in a moment. This wasn’t the first time she had to come in and intervene, she had thought to talk to Setae to try and talk her out letting Damon get too her, but that didn’t end well and so now Keana was here looking to put a end to a fight before it begun.
Jumping down from her perch into a dark alleyway she brushed some of her hard curly hair to the back for a moment before she began making her way into the place. She didn’t wear a dress like most women there wore, rather it was refined or not, it was the place of a woman to wear a dress of some sorts, but Keana never acted much like a woman (aside during her times with Everett, but even then not all times) so she wasn’t going to start now. She wore a loose brown shirt, dark pants and a large hat that covered most her hair aside from the few locks that hung over her eyes. At first glace one couldn’t tell much that she was a woman which she liked, it kept eyes off her. As she entered the place her eyes went to work quickly to find the vampires who had come in, they had already made their way to a table close to Damon and was eying him rather darkly.

Keana was starting to get a little tired of saving Damon’s @$$ as it was becoming more of a habit than she would have preferred, though she did feel guilty about allowing Damon to get turned in her absences this was starting to get a little ridicules. He was reckless, which could be expected from such a young vampire but still she didn’t usually look after vampires, humans yes, many of Damon’s ancestors she had pulled out of the fire time and again to keep them safe but she rarely was ever seen by them, but with Damon she had to come to him at least five time over the course of his life, twice before he was turned which he would have had memory of if it hadn’t been so brief which she tried to make it as such. But her whole life was not something that revolved around Damon, she had plenty of things going on herself so she set up her little spies to keep her informed on his whereabouts and health as far as him keeping out of trouble, that was the reason she was there now, luckily she hadn’t been too far away when she was informed that Damon had come into ‘bad’ territory and that he might wind up with a bad case of skin burn if he didn’t keep moving, but it was like she knew him far too well, even in a distance she knew him, and he would not take the warning too well.
Keana had come to him in passing, a quick warning just in case he didn’t understand the gravity of the situation but still that was a long shot and she knew it, she would have to do something she didn’t want to thanks to him. Salvatore’s always managed to get her in trouble somehow.
As she watched the evens begin to unfold Keana walked briskly in front of Damon, cutting him off as she gave him a quick glance before moving to the table with the three men sat. Two were rather large and clearly hand-picked by Setae as muscle but Keana knew that the slightly smaller guy sitting between the two was the head and he was the one she needed to talk to. Placing both hands on their table all three turned to look at her, the leader of the three seemed to recognize her somehow as his eyes widened for just a moment before he settled, trying to look unnerved but she could taste the unease in him, “Miss Devany… What a surprise to see you here, I had heard rumors you were back here but I had no idea you would be in our small neck of the woods” he said with a slight smile, though it didn’t last as it showed too much of his nervousness. Keana however, or Devany as she was going by at the time did smile, a rather dark smile that made the man weary.
”Indeed…” She said pulling up a chair and taking a seat, watching the little man squirm in his seat which made the other too nervous as well. ”Have we met before? You seemed to recognize me rather quickly” she asked as she leaned back in her chair watching him.
“N-no well, sort of, I was here when you came about fifty years ago, and drove out BlackJack” he mentioned which made Keana chuckled a bit at the memory. She hadn’t thought much on that, and she wasn’t even going to get involved but that silly hunter pissed her off and after she was done with him he had nothing but one good leg and one good eye which was enough for him to get out of town before sundown.
“Yeah well that was a long time ago… I hear you have been sent to run someone else off like I ran good ol’ BJ, but I think it’ll be better if you just let me take care of this one gents” she said with a smile hoping to all things holy that Damon wouldn’t cause a scene.
