I'm looking to find any infomration on T/5 Joseph C. Piler S/N 34199582. I understand his father immigrated from Germany so Joseph was a first generation American. He worked the same profession as his father, pipe fitting in naval yards, before being drafted. He enlisted out of Georgia on Feb. 14, 1942 and was listed as a POW on December 23, 1944 during the Bulge. He was interred in Stalag 13C in Hammelburg before being liberated.

Not a 326 expert, but I know a lot about the 327. I believe the 326 was at Marvie on or near Hill 500. They were filling in gaps in the 327. On Dec 23 which is just SE of Marvie. It was the 2nd Battle in 3 days. Most POWs were on Hill 500 or just north/east. A 326 team took out A Mark IV near there which has phosphorus shells and it lit up Marvie.

For more on the 2nd Battle at Marvie, you can email me at gliderman327@yahoo.com

On Dec 20 they were also involved in that battle at Marvie. The 326 happened to be pulling out when the Germans attacked, leaving 327's Colonel Harper with the vision that Marvie had fallen and the 327 was routed. He reported that to Command in Bastogne.

Thanks for the information on Marvie 327th. I'll send you an email for more information.

Does anyone know where I can find information on him and his service related to the 326th? I definitely know he was in the Bulge, but I'm trying to figure out what other campaigns he may have been involved in. I'm looking for anything related to after action reports, jump rosters, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm still looking for any info I can find on Joseph. Does anyone know of any 326th AEB researchers I can contact?

I have listing of members in 1st, 2nd, 3rd Platoons of Company C 326th Airborne Engineer Battalion, but Joseph C. Piler isn't mentioned. Do you know what group he was in? BTW, I did a quick search online and came across this information about him. You might have already seen this... http://www.ww2pow.info/index.php?page=d ... rec=103683

After checking my archives, here is the little info I gathered : he was assigned from 11th Replacement Depot ( APO 131 ) to C Company / 326th AEB on September 30th 1944. He 's definitely listed as MIA since december 23rd 1944 in a morning report dated January 5th 1945. He seems to back in  a C Company roster dated August 9th 1945.
