Just saw this posting, but have more to add. In regard to Private Eugene Kobierecki... I have information that he was in the 2nd Platoon, Company C of the 326th AEB. The plane he was in was shot down during the night drop on D-Day. His plane caught fire (from heavy flak) and crashed in the parish of Brevands, just SSE of Carentan. The stick in his plane were forced to jump at about 350 feet off the ground, possibly one reason why Kobierecki had a fractured right femur. My information is that most of his stick were eventually captured by the Germans, but this didn't happen until D-Day +1 or later.
