Bill Spivey- A Co 501 SWA at St Georges de Bohon on D-day.  I met him in 1973--a potato
masher hit the hedgerow in front of him and exploded in his face-he lost one eye as a result. There
was another Spivey in A/501-Roy- SWA by a bullet to the head at Bse Addeville 8 June, 44.
Reg Alexander-H Co. 501-photo of him and story of how his chute streamered at Pretot, in my 1st
book, as well as in 'Vanguard.' Also knew him personally.
John Windish- Item Co. 506th, captured near St Come Du Mont, soon after landing as Pathfinder officer.
I first met him at the Philly reunion in 1971.  I'm surprised a lot of forum regulars don't remember his uniforms
just sold this past summer, on E Bay.
In May, 2004, I took Bob Sechrist back to the girls' school in  Rennes, where he had been incarcerated as a
seriously wounded POW-that was his first return visit, since 1944.
As to Ralph Smeal of B/506th I have a nice photo of him in his Class 'A' blouse, taken near the end  of the war,
which I think I've posted on this forum in the past. I suspect that he, like Johnny Gibson, might have  rejoined his
company and returned to combat, on subsequent missions.
Major Phil Gage died about 5 years ago, he must have been at least 98 years old. I saw him at the 501st reunion in
Ft Mitchell, KY in 2006, at which time he was 96. Major  Gage was also captured at St Georges de Bohon on D-day-
the Germans amputated one of his hands. His wife was in the OSS in the ETO.

Dale,

thanks for your input here as well. Although I did some research on the 101 MP platoon I never knew Molinary to be in Rennes.

Regarding Windish. As stated he was a Lt. with Pathfinder security team. His wound was actually a bullet into his heel. He was hidden by a French nurse and repatriated in early August. As for his uniforms - I saw them up close and personal. What I saw, morphed and evolved into what was sold on eBay. He died in the Central PA area.

Tom,
I don't think you were wrong at all.  Heel and Tibia are very close in proximity.  He could have had his heel nicked either going in or coming out of the shin area.
He was hit be a bullet and in the same area of ankle/foot area.

Tom,

Do you have any details on Windish's story with the French Nurse, did he give a name? When did he have to hide was that during the purge of the hospital around 26 July to send as many PWs to the Stalag to be sent to Germany?

Okay I have gone through my wounded POW list again against the NARA POW database and identified some more 101st guys.  Let me know if you have any details for them.  I have a number of early arriving guys without units that have common jumping injuries which might be airborne guys that I will post later.

Tom,
I'm curious what you mean by, "What I saw, morphed and evolved into what was sold on eBay." ?
