~I'm never gonna dance again,
Guilty feet don't got no rhythm...~

A teenage girl walks down the street, hurried, head down, through the pouring rain. She just wanted to be home already, for it was nearly midnight, and she was well past curfew. A loner, she had no friends to hole up with for the night, so she had no choice in the matter. She was about a mile from home, sprinting from street to street. She found a place where there were no lights burning. She leapt up onto a crate and then scrambled up the wall to the rooftops, then kept running. Coming down when she saw lights again, she did not see the people hiding in the shadows. She was in too much of a rush to check them. They smiled, knowing an easy mark, but waited, following her at a distance. Cat looked around once, but they had melted away into side streets as she turned, leaving no trace. Eventually, she knew she'd have to cross the street, so there was no sense delaying it. She needed to be home soon, or she'd come down with something. She was crossing the street when they came. They circled her, leaving her no way out. Their leader stepped forward...

~So I'm never gonna dance again,
Careless whispers...~
The leader, the pariah, the victim, the messiah...

"I don't have any money..." She was scared for her life. there was no way she could fight off this many people with her hands, and it looked like they all had weapons, which further tipped the scale. She stepped back and slipped in a rain puddle, falling to the ground. She landed on her back and looked over just in time to see someone pouncing on the man, if indeed he could be considered a man, in front of her. He screamed for about one second before the person ripped out his neck in a rather violent manner, then let him drop to the ground, his blood diluting into the wet stone. The thieves dispersed quickly, and she curled up in a ball, knowing she couldn't get away in time and waiting for the end. It didn't come. She looked up finally as the woman, as she determined by the voice pitch, asked, "Are you alright?" She got up slowly, looking down. "I'll be fine...Thank you for saving me, they definately would've killed me if you had not showed up." She looked at the body of the man, remembering the brutality of how she had killed him, and took a couple steps back. She still didn't know if this woman was going to kill her instead. She looked up and finally tried to recognize her.

"It was nothing, the man deserved it."

Cat looked away. "Nobody deserves to die. He deserved to go to prison. Petty theft never earned a death sentence." She watched the woman get rid of the blood on her, then was surprised by the next question.

"Now then friend, where is it you are going to?"

Cat sighed, looking down at her wet and bloody appearance.
"My parents would kill me if I came home looking like this. Maybe going home isn't a good idea. So I have no idea." She was planning on running away to join up with some army or another, but this woman looked capable enough to take her in until then. Anything was better than her parents, in her opinion. The woman had pushed her hair back, and she looked kinda cute like that. "No, Cat. Don't even go there. She's way too young for you. She shook her head, clearing the thought away.

"Would you like me to escort you, miss...?"

Cat supposed giving her name to her savior was the kind thing to do. "My name is Caterina. And I have nowhere to go, but it would be kind of you to walk with me awhile." She didn't want her to leave yet, but felt that she would have something better to do than walk around in the rain with a teenage girl. Again, she had the slightest hope that the woman was kind enough to help her out of this predicament. It was funny, the worst moment of her life was slowly turning into a hope of getting out of hell. She smiles a little bit, thinking that.

(sorry for taking so long to post...D:)

She immediately regretted asking when she noticed the woman was acting odd. However, she could not escape the truth, and now it was laid out plainly between them. Really, she hoped she had not scared her off, but then she was surprised when she said, "I, I know a place." That was different from anything she had ever seen before, such kindness. But she did not question it. She just smiled again and walked along beside her as she walked off. "What have I gotten myself into...?" The thought looped in her mind like a carrier pigeon with one eye. The analogy made her laugh a bit, despite the morbid chaos that had occurred not too long ago. She looked over at the lady beside her. "I do not think I have yet heard your name..." She watched for the lady to respond and noted her odd way of just feeling her way around like a blind person. "Are you okay? Is something wrong with your eyes? She did not know whether or not she was being rude, since her isolation from others had robbed her of a chance to find that line, and many others. Her life was a difficult one, hardly anyone even knew her name.
