'X-Files' officially returning to Fox in Summer 2015

It's been more than 13 years since "The X-Files" aired on network TV, but on Tuesday Fox announced the spooky sci-fi series is returning for a six-episode run that will begin in the summer of 2015.

"The X-Files", which originally premiered in Sept. 1993, aired for nine seasons and earned 16 Emmy nominations during its run. The series centered on FBI agents Scully, played by Gillian Anderson, and Mulder, played by David Duchovny. Both stars will be reprising their roles for the reboot.

"I think of it as a 13-year commercial break," said Chris Carter, creator and executive producer of the show. "The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories."

Fox execs made the big announcement after months of speculation surrounding rumors that the series was planning a reboot.

I wonder if my Mulder is going to be weirded out by the TV saying his name.

I read an article a couple of weeks ago that they're making a Coach 2.0 with Craig T. Nelson this fall.
Can't remember the details though.

If they're going to bring back 90's shows, I know Scott Bakula is busy these days but I wouldn't mind another "Quantum Leap" - I loved that show so much.

Whoa! I thought Craig T. Nelson had died. But now that I type that I am thinking it was another cast member. Or maybe I'm thinking of Coach on Cheers? I'll have to Google that.
I could go for another Quantum Leap. I am watching reruns now on Cozi.

Gillian Anderson Says She Was Offered Half the Salary David Duchovny Was For 'X-Files' Revival
January 23, 2016

It may be 2016, but Gillian Anderson had to deal with the same issues she faced when she was originally cast as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the '90s TV hit, The X-Files.

The 47-year-old actress was initially offered half the pay that her co-star, David Duchovny, was to star in the upcoming series revival of the cult classic, she revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Anderson also spoke about the pay gap to the Daily Beast, admitting she was disappointed that she hasn't been asked about the issue more.

"Especially in this climate of women talking about the reality of [unequal pay] in this business, I think it's important that it gets heard and voiced," she said. "It was shocking to me, given all the work that I had done in the past to get us to be paid fairly. I worked really hard toward that and finally got somewhere with it."

Anderson explained that when the show first began in 1993, she was paid less than Duchovny for several seasons. It wasn't until she was told to walk behind him on camera, and never stand to his side, however, that sent her over the edge.

"I have such a knee-jerk reaction to that stuff, a very short tolerance for that s**t," she said. "I don't know how long it lasted or if it changed because I eventually said, 'F**k no! No!' I don't remember somebody saying, 'Okay, now you get to walk alongside him.' But I imagine it had more to do with my intolerance and spunk than it being an allowance that was made."

Anderson was shocked to deal with similar gender discrimination again over twenty years later.
"People have said to me, 'I can't believe that happened, how did you feel about it, that is insane,'" she explained. "And my response always was, 'That was then, this is now.' And then it happened again! I don't even know what to say about it."

While a source told The Hollywood Reporter that Anderson will be receiving equal pay for The X-Files reboot, wage gap issues in Hollywood are far from over.

I can't believe it. Those jerks. Well, that was a polite substitution for what I really wanted to call them. Time for those morons to be taken to task. Or behind the woodshed for an attitude adjustment.
No wonder everyone is up in arms about the Oscars and the other equality issues in the industry.
Maybe if we focus on them and firmly intend that they get with the program and equalize everything they will get the message. Nightmares can have a strong effect.

You know they will have nightmares, even if the energy is positive. They feel very threatened when their $$ gross is fiddled with.

One wonders what the aliens get paid. Hopefully they have a union rep.

Good for Gillian Anderson! She definitely has spunk. I think we are heading toward equality whether the powers that be want it or not. Too many good people speaking out now.

You guys are suckers. I'm recording all the episodes so I can watch them without waiting between episodes and without sitting through all the commercials. Also if the ending is lame I can save myself the six hours.

Another great episode. The storyline is slowly being weaved. I hope they are getting good ratings. It may mean another season in the future.

Could there be abductee alien sex in this?

I watched a few epiosdes here and there when the show was on and saw one, maybe both of the movies?

At this point any fan service would probably go right over my head.

From the previews it seems they are going all out with this miniseries, alien crash, abductee angle, etc. I see for the next show they are doing a Were creature though so maybe they are trying to cram everything into these six episodes.

Ok, so I just saw the first episode. Clearly this is going to be a convoluted plot and we should just enjoy the ride.
[+] spoiler
I didn't know the aliens, or humans, could blow people up! I went whoa! when I saw that. Clearly they are going for a government against the people using alien tech thing but do the aliens actually play a role in this relaunch? Hmmmmmmm.
