I thought maybe we could have a thread where we post the songs we've heard that we want to share, that are on our minds, express how we are feeling or even as a means of exorcising those pesky earworms!

My contribution for today: A Sheryl Crow goodie. It popped into my mind immediately when I saw pics of a friend who just drastically altered his appearance.
:omgblinky: Yes indeedy, a change will do you good.

Ah today. Lingering whorls of yesterday evening eddy about my mind.
Yesterday evening I got out of the house for the first time in a long time. Went to visit an old friend.
Cuppa coffee. Then some sips of something I think she called tequila rose. Yummy. Her neighbor came over and we chatted.
Nice afternoon, great friends, relaxing times.

All Fly Away
Jefferson Starship

Moonrise above the Rio Grande
On this fantasy of sand
As I drift into a dream
And I feel the comet scream
Three birds watching from a rock
And I swear the third one talked
Rise up through the fog and we can
All fly away
All fly away
Let's leave today
And we may climb through time tomorrow.

Space city like a jewel on wings
Rocket ships like bees they sting
Planets of fantastic sight
Floating up in pastel light
Twisted trees in Martian breeze
Catch that horse don't let him freeze
Someone won’t you come and we can all fly away
All fly away, let's leave today
And we may climb through time tomorrow.

We rode a bubble through the sun
We all knew it could be done
There were men with fiery wings
And a million burning things
Silver statues on the run
Bleeding there since Kingdom come
Won't you pick them up and we can all fly away
All fly away, let's leave today
And we may climb through time tomorrow
Dragon fly away.
My choice? All the way down the rabbit hole.

The sync on this isn't right on, but other than a fuzzy version by kd lang which would have been heaven, this version by Linda Ronstadt is wonderful and expresses the longing I am feeing today.

And this song too. I am nostalgic, teary and missing someone way too much right now.

Finish with this. Today I had a little dream of you. Dream a little dream of me.

I woke up on Sunday September 11 with this song playing in my mind.
I posted it and then removed the post so as not to offend anyone.
So, while hoping not to offend anyone, I am posting it again.

And of course it was the very one I have been hearing in my head.

As a side note, Cat Stevens said years later after forsaking the rotten L.A. music business to seek sanctuary in Islam's traditional lifestyle,

"It didn't have to be Islam - it could just as easily have been Buddhism."

Being a sensitive musician, he just wanted out of the crazy rat-race of rock superstardom, and the soul-numbing pressures associated with it.
The ladies sure loved him back in the day.

Adele. An excellent R&B British singer. All her posts are good, but in addition to the music, with this youtube you get a haunting video as well. I've had to watch it several times. Hope you like. M

I suggest full screen if you wish to really appreciate the video.

A major blast from the past for you Fleetwood Mac fans.
Who could forget the live performance of TUSK with
the USC Trojan Marching Band?

Yesterday's Gone finishes the set.

Ten minutes of real time travel to the better days.........1997.

Really enjoyed the Adele songs/videos Mirage. My local radio station plays Rolling In The Deep. I never knew the artist or the song title because I always hear it while I'm driving.

Edit:
Adding this link here because I don't want to bump the thread listing on the portal page.
ACL is on. (That's Austin City Limits Music Festival folks.)
If this works right you will have a link to the ticker and when available live performances on 2 stages. Right now I'm watching Alison Krauss & Union Station. The other stage has Young The Giant.

There are times when I really, really love technology.
Oh, ACL Music Festival lasts through Sunday-tomorrow. Thought I'd better let you know.

Loved all those vids, music is such a time machine! I had forgotten how much I enjoyed Annie Lennox, that contralto of hers just does things to me.

Damn, Squid! Another one worthy of making into a sigline. Cuts straight to the heart -- and to the heart of the matter.
